Introduction - Laura Pacino
Hi - My name is Laura Pacino, and I have had this obsession with creating jewelry that spans over the last two decades!! My love for glass and beads started in Southern California, where I worked full time as an apprentice to a stained glass artist in a very busy studio. I started working with beads, as a hobby, after taking several bead weaving classes at the well known store, the Shepherdess, in Old Town, San Diego. I was fortunate to have such talented and giving teachers right in my own neighborhood! I was immediately hooked on beads!
My interests in jewelry making have since grown to include working with precious metal clay, lampworking, metalwork, chain maille, and my endless addiction – WIRE!!! I have had the priviledge over the last several years to have taken classes and workshops with many fabulous teachers including Connie Fox, Laura McCabe, Stephanie Sersich, Tracy Stanley, Janice Berkibile, Kate McKinnon, Lisa Niven Kelly, Pamela Wolfersberger, Tink Martin, Barbara Becker Simon, Iris Sandkuhler, Kriss Silva and so many others! I am inspired to take my art to a new level every time I am able to learn from such accomplished instructors!
In 2002, I relocated to Ohio, to live closer to my family. I have been teaching jewelry classes since I arrived in Columbus. My wonderful students are keeping me very busy! I truly love teaching, and I believe in passing on any knowledge that I possess. I know first-hand how exciting it is to “get” something new, and I'm thrilled every time a student that I'm teaching has that same experience. I am always trying new techniques, and I find myself energized and motivated by my students, teachers and fellow artists. I am very happy to say that 2009 will bring many class offerings from my newly finished home studio in Pickerington, Ohio!
Look for my work in magazines, including the Spring 2009 and Summer 2009 Issues of Belle Armoire Jewelry !!
